After School Snacks ~ 15+ Healthy Alternatives

If you aren’t quite sure if it was your kids that got off the school bus or ravenous beasts, you had better be prepared with some healthy and filling after-school snacks! Good snacking options are ones that have a high fiber content to keep them full until dinner.

Fruits:
  • Berries
  • Bananas
  • Apple slices (skin on)
Smoothies:
 Option one:
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 TBSP coconut oil
  • Cup of almond or coconut milk
  • Frozen berries
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
 Option two:
  • Handful of kale
  • 1 TBSP coconut oil
  • Cup of almond or coconut milk
  • Frozen mango
  • Frozen pineapple
  • 1 tsp flax seeds

*The smoothie possibilities are endless here. Switch out any greens for a different kind (you really can’t taste them, promise!). Switch out fruit combinations, add cacao or carob powder to make a chocolate one, use a nut butter, etc.

Proteins:
  • Hard boiled egg
  • Hummus w/veggies
  • Almonds
  • Nut butters (almond or sunflower seed) w/apples, celery, or flax crackers
  • Homemade granola bars
Veggies:

  • Bell peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Carrots
  • Celery
 Dips:
  • Guacamole
  • Salsa
  • Hummus
  • Paleo Mayo w/dill
Misc:
 (to be used sparingly)
  • Organic Homemade Popcorn
  • Organic Corn Tortilla chips

      Thanks, Stacy! The one with celery is mentioned under Proteins. It is sunflower seed butter. Topping it with raisins make it even better!
